Age: 78

Walter Ray Bertram, 78, of Stanford, KY passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Stanford. Born April 4, 1937 in Liberty, KY to the late George Sr., and Sallie Marshall Bertram, he worked as a self employed licensed master plumber for over 50 years of his life. He volunteered for many hours at Laurel Lake Baptist Camp in Corbin, KY where he also served on the board of directors. He was involved in various organizations within the community, all of which were volunteer positions simply because he felt that it was important to serve others. Ray loved his family and friends very much, and was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and lifelong member of Willow Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years; Shelby Jean Bertram of Stanford, KY, one son; Reverend Tim Bertram (Sherry) of Paducah, KY, two daughters; Pamela Bertram and Dixie Bertram both of Stanford, KY, one brother; George Bertram, Jr. (Rosa) of Stanford, KY, two sisters; Martha Dean of Dunnville, KY, and Jo Benton (Don) of Nicholasville, KY, six grandchildren; Matthew Schulte (Traci) of Georgetown, KY, Jennifer Rhodus (John Jr.) of Stanford, KY, Leah Crafa (Joe) of Perryville, KY, Mark Bertram of Stanford, KY, Victoria Bertram, and Tanner Bertram both of Paducah, KY, three great-grandchildren; Ada Clark of Perryville, KY, Presley Applegate of Stanford, KY, and Brooklyn Crafa of Perryville, KY, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers; Carl, Curtis, and Bill Bertram, and one sister; Louise Jones.

A one day service has been scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Willow Grove Baptist Church in Danville, KY. Visitation will be from 4-7pm and funeral service will begin at 7pm with Reverends Tim Bertram, Johnny Thompson, and Lewis Walter officiating. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 10am Friday, August 28, 2015 at Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville, KY. Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to: Laurel Lake Baptist Camp (578 Singing In The Hills Road, Corbin, KY 40701).
