Virginia Sleeth

October 3, 1933 — July 6, 2010

Born Oct. 3, 1933, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Trefry Schierbaum and Harold Schierbaum. She was the widow of Walter Max Sleeth. She pursued many interests in her life and became remarkably accomplished at whatever she chose to do. She had been a scratch golfer, a talented painter, a self-taught organist, a wonderful cook and homemaker, but most importantly she was the beloved mother of her daughters. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Schierbaum Sipes.

Survivors include three daughters, Vickie (Chuck) Rhodes of Knightstown, Ind., Mickie Sleeth and Cindy (Mark) Long, both of Danville; five grandchildren, Hunter, Conner, and Madison Long, and Chris (Shanna) Rhodes and Kyle Rhodes; one great-grandchild, Parker Max Rhodes; a brother, Tommy Schierbaum of Greenfield, Ind.; a brother-in-law, Steve (Elvie) Sleeth of Bradenton, Fla.; and beloved friend Carol Calcaterra.

Services will be held at 1pm, Thursday, July 8th, 2010 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Denton officiating, with burial at Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Mark, Hunter, and Conner Long, and Chuck, Chris and Kyle Rhodes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Heritage Hospice or the Danville/Boyle County Humane Society.
