Ruth “Mae” Hasty Greer, 78, of Ottenheim, KY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Born on October 15, 1945 in Stanford, KY to the late Bob and Cladie Scott Floyd Hasty. Ruth's life was a testament to the values of community, service, and faith. She spent her working years as a dedicated Sales Associate in the shoe department at Wal-Mart, Stanford, KY, where she retired after 30 years in 2017. But her work was not confined to retail alone. She was a lifelong member of the Blue Lick Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, touching the lives of many. Ruth's life was filled with the love of listening to Elvis and The Beach Boys, and the reading of a good book. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Glendon Greer of Ottenheim, KY; two children, Michael Greer (Patty) of Ottenheim and Tina Morrison (Bryan) of Mt. Washington, KY; one brother, Johnny Hasty; five grandchildren, Corey Greer (Katrina), Lauren Swearingen, Logan Swearingen (Meridith), Jimmy Greer and MaKayla Greer; one great-granddaughter, Mckenzie Heibert; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Cladie Scott Hasty; and one sister, Margarett Hamm. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Huff officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens in Danville, KY. Active Pallbearers are Logan Swearingen, Jimmy Greer, Wendell Hamm, Rodney Miracle, Bryan Morrison and Bobby Hasty. Honorary Pallbearer is Richard Floyd.
