Roy Lee Wafford, Jr., 75, formerly of Danville, died July 12, 2009 in Lexington, Ky. Born August 22, 1933 in Woodford County, Ky., he was the son of the late Roy Lee Wafford, Sr. and Edna Jefferson Wafford. He was a plumber and pipe fitter for Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and a member of Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union Local #295. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty Jean Graham Wafford of Lexington, Ky., three sons; Mike J. (Candace) Wafford of Lexington, Ky., Bruce Walton (Donna Jo) Wafford of Palm Coast, Fl., and Mark Thane (Glenda) Wafford of Johnston, SC, a daughter; Kandi Kai (Mike) Weller of Lexington, Ky., two brothers; James (Bonnie) Wafford of Somerset, Ky., and Charles Wafford of Lexington, Ky., four sisters; Mary Coovert of Versailles, Ky., Jessie Clark of Lexington, Ky., Ernestine (Floyd) Stanbery of Alabama and Joyce Luttrell of Lexington, Ky., a half-sister; Bonnie Harris of Lexington, Ky., 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Penny Sue Johnson. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 1 pm at Stith Funeral Home with Thomas Wafford officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Matthew Holston, Mike Weller, Roger Smith, Mike Johnson, Justin Wafford, Milton Adams and Steve Collins. Visitation is from 11 am until the time of the service, Wednesday, at Stith Funeral Home.
