R. C. Montgomery, 88, of Danville, died Thursday at the Veteran's Center in Lexington. Born June 15, 1922 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Herbert and Ruth May Montgomery. He was a master plumber and owner of R.C. Montgomery and Son Backhoe and Plumbing Co. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, 3rd Infantry division, and was Sergeant of the Guards at the Nuremberg Trials in Germany. He loved to fish, hunt, farm, garden and game chickens. Survivors include, his wife, Jane Griffin Montgomery, one son, Hugh (Judy) Montgomery, of Harrodsburg, KY, two daughters, Angela (Phillip) Russell, of Danville, and Myra (Mark) Young, of Benton, KY, two brothers, Charles Montgomery, of Danville, and Donnie (Jean) Montgomery, of Mt. Washington, KY, a sister, Mildred (Leroy) Davis, of Buckeye, KY, three grandchildren, Ricky (Cristy) Allen, Brittney Montgomery, and Phillip Ryan Allen, several step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, Dalton Clay Allen, Sarah Allen, and Jackson Allen. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Larry and Kenny Cheatham, Mark, Danny, Ronnie, Gary, and Timmy Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers will be Marty and Bryan Montgomery, Johnny Allen and Billy Leathers. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Stith Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Veteran's Cancer Treatment Center, Leestown Road in Lexington. www.stithfuneralhome.net
