Norman Ferrell, 74, of Danville went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 8, 2013. He lost his battle with Leukemia at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, University of Louisville Hospital. He was born July 24, 1939 in Lebanon, KY to the late Wallace Drye and Oma Gibson Todd Ferrell. Norman was a dedicated member of the First Church of God, Harrodsburg Road and a previous long time member of Junction City First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was deeply devoted to God and his family and was a wonderful example of a follower of Christ. Norman was a retired machinist from Corning Glass and Philips Lighting.

Norman was a loving and dedicated husband to Lenora M. Ferrell; a beloved father to four daughters and one son: Teresa G. Pelfrey of Danville, Robert C. Ferrell of Danville, Trina J. (Ron) Sawyer of Mitchellsburg, Deirdre K. (Rick) Kinter of Parksville, and Deanna R. (Chris) Charles of Danville. He was pre-deceased by a son-in-law, Bill Pelfrey.

Norman was the proud poppa to ten grandchildren, two of which pre-deceased him, Tiffany B. (Jon) Pelfrey Lavender and Christen Rae Sawyer. His other eight grandchildren are: Brandon R. Pelfrey, Alysha R. Sawyer, Amber J. Pelfrey, Erika L. Sawyer, Paige A. Ferrell, Chelsea L. Sawyer, Logan B. Oliver, and Kaylee C. Ferrell. He was also the proud poppa to three great grandchildren: Julia M. Lavender and Emily B. Lavender (Tiffany and Jon Lavender, parents) and Noah A.R. Henderson (Alysha Sawyer and Keaton Henderson, parents).

Norman's brothers and sisters are: Delois Southerland, Wendell Ferrell, Ronald (Mary Frances) Ferrell, Linda Duggins, and David (Anita) Ferrell.

His brothers and sisters-in-law are: Calvin (Ruby) King, Joyce Cochran, Gary (Pat) King, and Gail (Eric) Hogue. He was pre-deceased by Minnie Caldwell and Curtis King.

Norman also had others he considered as children: Tim Pelfrey, Melissa Huling, and Rose Daugherty and as grandchildren: Keaton Henderson and Cameron Retallick. There were also many nieces, nephews, and friends that he loved dearly.

The funeral service will be Friday, September 13, 2013 at 1:00 at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the same location. Entombment will be at Danville Memorial Gardens. Rev. Mike Cox will officiate.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society.
