Nannie Belcher

Nannie Marie Reese Belcher, 96, of Junction City, died Saturday, October 28, 2017. Born September 2, 1921 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of Leo and Joann Smith Reese. She was a housewife and a member of Alum Springs First Church of God. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife of 71 years to her late husband, Denzil Belcher, and caregiver to many. She also loved to can and garden. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Sammy Reese and Jess Reese, and four sisters, Ethel Yates, Eunis Gaddis, Mabel Hamilton and Nora Campbell.
Survivors include a son, Ronald (Nancy) Belcher, a daughter, Fredia (the late Ward) Shafer, both of Danville, seven grandchildren, Datha Belcher, Alice Potts, Denzil Belcher, Nanette Williams, Caroline Boyd, Ellen Deets and Clifton Shafer, 13 great-great grandchildren and 10 great-great-great grandchildren, and a sister, Laura Collins of Danville.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. Rev. Leland Lockhart will officiate. Pallbearers will be Denny Belcher, Mason Belcher, Harvey Stratton, Joey Stratton, Josh Stratton, Chris Deets, Clifton Shafer and Jonathon Barnett. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters. Visitation will be after 4 p.m., Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. The family suggests donations to the Alum Springs Church of God Building Fund.
