Danville- Leon "Elwood" Reynolds, age 80, of Parksville, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation. Born Wednesday, June 12, 1929 in Washington County, he was a son of the late George and Margaret Cunningham Reynolds. He was a Corporal in the United States Army Medical Corps. He was a farmer and was retired as a nurse's aide from the Kentucky and Eastern State Hospitals. Mr. Reynolds was a Volunteer Firefighter with the Parksville Fire Department Station 3 for 25 years and was one of the 13 original founding members. He helped with the Parksville Rescue for 9 years. Elwood was a Baptist and a Kentucky Colonel. He was the widower of Nancy Jane Rice Reynolds.
Survivors include sons, James Dallas (Susan) Reynolds, Sr. and Richard Leslie (Marcia) Reynolds both of Perryville; daughter, Martha Faye (Freddie) Turner of Alum Springs; brothers, Harrison Reynolds of Stanford and Avron (Mildred) Reynolds of Junction City; sister, Hilda (Richard) Crowley of Arizona; grandchildren, Tharen, Chris, Jamie, Lisa, Jason, Landon and Leslie; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
An Appreciation of Life Service will be 11AM Monday, August 10, 2009 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Jr. Fields officiating and honors from the Boyle County Fire Department. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9PM Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tharen Stevens, Jamie, Landon, and Leslie Reynolds, Jason Turner, Nathan Stevens and Kayla Howell. Honorary pallbearers will be Lisa Reynolds, Shae and Savannah Stevens, members of the Parksville Fire Department, and nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boyle County Fire Department Station 3 or Heritage Hospice.
