Lee Roy Fowler Sr., 93, of Danville died Friday at his residence. Born April 17, 1920 in Danville, he was the son of the late James Oscar and Mary Bettie Turner Fowler. Roy was a 1940 graduate of Danville High School, He served in the Army Signal Corps during WWII and moved through Italy, Sicily and Africa with General Patton's army. He was a retired letter carrier with the US Postal Service. He was a hunter and fisherman and a long time member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Roy loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his many nieces and nephews as if they were his own. He was predeceased by four brothers, Morris Everett Fowler, James Robert Fowler, Joseph William Fowler and Homer Cecil Fowler.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Montee Tucker Fowler; four sons, Lee Roy (Katie) Fowler Jr., Stephen Wayne "Wedge" (Sherry) Fowler, Guy Morris (Anne) Fowler and Richard Carney (Jenny Bryant) Fowler, all of Danville; a sister, Hattie Mae Payton of Indio, Ca.; eight grandchildren, Marnie (Blaine) VanWinkle, Thomas (Nella) Fowler, Stephen D.M. (Amber) Fowler, Kayla (Brad) Whitehouse, Kodie Fowler, Jessica (Jeff) McCowan, Katie (Micah) Pass and Amanda Montee (Wayne) Coffman and twelve great-grandchildren, Connor Burchell, Josiah Fowler, Micah Fowler, Makyla Fowler, Aaron McCowan, Jacob McCowan, Gracie McCowan, Laci West, Crosby Pass, Caleb Pass, Gavin Fowler, Aiden Coffman and three on the way.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Rev. Tommy Valentine will officiate. Burial will be in the Danville Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post # 19. Pallbearers will be Lee Roy Fowler Jr., Steve Fowler, Guy Fowler, Richard Fowler, Stephen Fowler, Thomas Fowler, Jeff Fuqua and Connor Burchell. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all retired Danville Postal workers. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Sunday at Stith Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to Heritage Hospice, 120 Enterprise Drive, Danville, Ky. 40422.
