Kenneth Phelps 1937-2009
Kenneth C. Phelps, 72, of Danville died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at his residence.
Born Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1937, in Somerset, he was a son of the late Roma and Martha Phelps. He was a charter member, deacon and song leader of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Phelps was farm manager at Caverndale Farms for 35 years. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing and was a Kentucky Wildcat fan.
Survivors include his dear wife, Evelene Whitis Phelps of Danville, whom he wed on Jan. 11, 1957; daughters, Sharon (Kenneth) LeMonds and Karen Elaine Richardson, both of Danville, Melinda (Mike) Huffman of Lawrenceburg, and Debbie (Woody) Ball of Danville; a brother, Edward (Edith) Phelps of Science Hill; a sister, Alberta (Beecher) Barren of Franklin, Ky.; grandchildren, Chris (Jackie) LeMonds, Laura (Michael) Southerland, Scott (Cassie) LeMonds, Michael (Cheryl) West, Lori (Shane) Burger and Jamison Ball; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Felty, Breanna West, Gavin Southerland, Bennett LeMonds, Jackson Burger, Katherine LeMonds and Jason West.
An Appreciation of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Chris and Scott LeMonds, Michael West, Michael Southerland, Shane Burger and Jamison Ball.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Missionary Baptist Church or Heritage Hos
