John "Al" Carpenter

March 26, 1951 — June 17, 2019

Al Carpenter, age 68, of Johnny Carpenter Road in Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 17, 2019, at his residence.  Born Monday, March 26, 1951, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Johnny & Viola Joseph Carpenter.  His loving wife, whom he married September 12, 2012, is Sharon Green Carpenter of Waynesburg.  Al graduated from Memorial High School in 1970, graduated from Somerset Vocation in 1971, and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 30 years.  He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, member of the Masonic Lodge in Greeneville, Tennessee, member of Shriners in Kingsport, Tennessee, and member of the Scottish Rite in Knoxville, Tennessee.

In addition to his wife, Al leaves behind two daughters, Jackie Cavnar (Steve) of Brentwood, Tennessee, and April Marsh (Chris) of Greeneville, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Stephanie Cavnar, Spencer Marsh, Tyler Marsh, Watson Marsh, and Chloe Marsh; one brother, Calvin Carpenter (Roxie) of Perryville, Kentucky; and several extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Carpenter.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Bro. Kyle Page and Keith Singleton officiating the service.  Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens with Bro. Doug Lester officiating the Graveside Service.  Max Miracle, J.C. Jones, Bill Collins, Norman Ricker, Ralph Mara, and Keith Singleton will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Al’s grandsons, Robert Horn, Richard Greer, and Brian Singleton will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Visitations will be held 5-8PM Wednesday, June 19, 2019, and 9-11AM Thursday at the church.
