Janet Wirey

April 25, 1947 — June 16, 2019

Janet Elizabeth Moss Wirey, 72, of Danville, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Boyle County to the late Ray, Sr. and Myrtle Sinkhorn Moss. Janet is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Edward Lee Wirey; two daughters, Barbara Weldon (Keith) and Tracy Critchfield (Ron), both of Danville; a son, Scott Taylor of Danville; three brothers, James Moss of Danville, David Moss of Danville and Bobby Moss of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren: Zachary Weldon, Josh Weldon (Hayli), Jeremy Taylor, James Taylor, Sarah Critchfield, Kristin Critchfield and Allison Critchfield, and a great-grandchild, Meadow Harper Weldon.

Janet was a member of Doctor’s Fork Baptist Church where she loved teaching Sunday school kids. She retired from Boyle County schools after driving a bus for 32 years. After retiring, she enjoyed being part of the Boyle County Homemaker’s Club. During her free time, she loved to sew, can, and cook. She always made sure everyone had their favorite meal and cake on birthdays. In addition, she was an avid shopper, loved to travel with her husband, decorate for the holidays, and plant and take care of her flowers. Most of all, she loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Janet is preceded in death by a brother, Ray Moss, Jr. and five sisters, Fern Marcum, Jean Steiden, Martha Grubbs, Margaret Mudd and Barbara Moss Crouch.

Funeral services 10:30AM Friday, June 21, 2019 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. John David Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 5-8PM and Friday, June 21, 2019 from 9:30-10:30AM.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Weldon, Jeremy Taylor, James Taylor, Charlie Grubbs, Steve Grubbs, Ron Rowe, Roger Marcum, Jr. and John Marcum, Jr.
