Ina Short, Aug. 1, 1924 - Nov. 19, 2012 (native of Danville, Ky., and Louisville, Ky., respectivelyl): Her family rejoices in the life of this beloved, beautiful belle, the matriarch of her family. She was the best grandmother to several grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother & great-great grandmother. She was cherished mother to Brenda Short Kasdan and Sheila Short and cherished stepmother to Donna Short Killman, Barbara Short Dempsey Sabak, and Robert Short Jr.

She is predeceased by her daughter Sheila and stepson Robert. She is predeceased by her husband Robert Short Sr., whom she deeply loved and who deeply loved her. She died after a short illness this week in Louisville, Ky., surrounded by her family, and after a remarkable, faith-filled, adventurous life.

She attended the former Sue Bennett College in Berea, Ky., and taught school as a young woman. She was a renowned seamstress, a wonderful artist in paints and sketches, and a master crochet artist, creating exquisite works that will forever be unmatched. She was a gourmet Southern cook, and created coveted dishes in untold numbers for her clan, church fellowship and many. She was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan.

She was a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville for long years before she moved to Louisville to join her children. At Gethsemane, she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She spilled over with love, courage, common sense, strength and a little girl's sense of play. She worked hard and gave all of herself to her family, church, friends & strangers. She lived life her way. She was a champion thoroughbred and, as one person has said, died with her boots on. "Well done, thy good & faithful servant."

The funeral service will be Friday, November 23, 2012 at 12 pm at Gethsemane Baptist Church with Rev. Steve James officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday at Gethsemane Baptist Church from 11 am until the service time.
