Hazel Wooten

Hazel Ann Barnett Wooton, 74, of Perkins Ave., Danville, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008.
Born Sept. 21, 1934, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Charles Everett and Mildred Thomas Barnett. She was the widow of Carl Ray Wooton. For 11 years, she was the custodian of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and took care of everyone and everything. Hazel attended Hedgeville Baptist Church. She loved Rook, hummingbirds and cooking, but her grandchildren were her greatest love.
Survivors include two sons, Vaughn (Sharon) Hart of Louisville and Timmy Ray Hart of Danville; four stepchildren, Jackie (Scott) Wooton-Nichols of Danville, Tony Wooton of Sheperdsville, Tracie Wooton of New Albany, Ind., and Kerray (Joni) Wooton of Glendale, Ky.; a sister, Rachael Walls of Danville; four brothers, Herman Barnett of Bardstown, Harold (Charlotte) Barnett and Homer (Dot) Barnett, both of Louisville, and Harlan (Joyce) Barnett of Danville; nine grandchildren, Crystal (Smitty) Vance, Chad (Clarissa) Hart, Shane (Amber) Wooton, Jordan Wooton, Shelby Wooton, Matthew Kemp, Amanda (Chris) Bentley, Jacob Wooton, and Angel Wooton; and seven great-grandchildren, Kevin Vance, Ryan Vance, Jackson Vance, Hannah Vance, Ashlynn Wooton, Grayson Shelby and Mason Bentley; a special needs nephew, Lennie Giles of Danville, and a host of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Barnett.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Noel. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home.
