Glenn C. Daugherty

August 29, 1936 — July 19, 2023

Lancaster, KY

Rev. Glenn C. Daugherty, 86, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in Cleveland, Tennessee.

He was born in Harlan County, Kentucky on August 29, 1936 – the son of the late Millard and Edith Acre Daugherty. After attending school to become an X-ray technician, he decided he didn’t like making that much money and became an evangelist instead. In reality, he felt called to serve others through a lifetime of ministry work and did so with such virtuosity and altruism that he touched countless lives. His legacy of kindness and generosity will live on for years to come.

In 1964, he married the late Shirley Short Daugherty; shortly after, they began serving the Lord and their community at the East Bernstadt Church of God. Over the years he pastored several churches across Kentucky, including Bowling Green, Vanceburg, Crescent Springs, Cumberland, Somerset, and Lancaster as well as serving in various COG roles including state evangelist and state council member. He cared deeply for his congregants, sometimes to Shirley’s chagrin, and was always present as a leader and a caretaker in his community. In 2014, he left his final pastorate in Harrodsburg, KY, to retire from full-time pastoral duties. However that didn’t stop him from the occasional oration (especially before family dinners).

Outside of his work, Glenn was a toothpick connoisseur, a collector of restaurant napkins, and a Bob Evans enthusiast. When he wasn’t letting one of his unlicensed grandchildren practice driving, he would likely be found reading a book or buying canned food on the cusp of expiration.

Survivors include his children, David Daugherty (Tonya [whom he would like to remind everyone is now the oldest]), Deanna Henderson (Jon), and Donna Hall (Mike); one brother, John Daugherty; seven grandchildren, Christian Daugherty (Sabrina), Hannah Daugherty, Hezekiah Daugherty (Francine), Brennen Henderson (Susan), Seth Henderson (Micah), and Kailey Henderson; AnnMarie Hall; and one great-grandchild Penelope Daugherty.

In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl & Charles Daugherty, and one sister, Genita Bryant.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Lexington Road Church of God, 2336 Lexington Road., Richmond, KY with Rev. Paula Farmer, and Pastor Timothy Gann officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM on Tuesday, at the church. Private burial services for the family will be held at the Danville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in his name, to Gideons International to continue the work of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, is in charge of the arrangements.
