Floying W. Thompson, Sr., 86, husband of the late Margaret Eloise Harmon Thompson, died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born January 25, 1926 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Leona Cornish Thompson Carey and Ary Thompson. He was a retired Farmer and a member of the Cornishville Baptist Church. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.


Survivors include two sons: Rev. Floying W. (Marsha) Thompson, Jr. of Danville and Dennis (Rose) Thompson of Harrodsburg. Three sisters: Matha Baker of Shelbyville, Anna Lou Carey of Nicholasville and Flossie Oder of Springfield. One brother J.W. Carey of Lebanon, one grandson William Troy Thompson of Harrodsburg and one granddaughter Denise LeeAnne Thompson of Harrodsburg also survive.


He was preceded in death by one grandson Travis W. Thompson, two sisters Serena Coulter and Julianne Carey, and two brothers Leon Carey and Raymond Thompson.


Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Mark King officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Danville Memorial Gardens with Dennis Thompson, Floying Thompson, Jr., Zachary Fyffe, Troy Thompson, LeeAnne Thompson, and Aubrey McMullin serving as pallbearers.


Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Cornishville Baptist Church, 989 Manns Road, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
