Emanuel Abbott, 95, a native of Boyle County, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013.

Born May 1, 1918, in Parksville, he was a son of the late Lewis Calvin and Nancy Emoling Chambers Abbott. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Franklin Lodge. He worked as a farmer, carpenter, for Railway Express, McDuffee Motor Freight and United Trucking. He enjoyed camping, travel and most of all being with family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Geneva Lane Abbott; sons Billy Lewis Abbott and Jerry Manuel Abbott; daughter-in-law, Patsy Lynn Bruner Abbott; grandchildren, Michael Lewis Abbott and William Todd Abbott; two great-grandchildren, Tristian Danielle Hawkins and Timothy Luke Hawkins Jr.; a brother, Hubert Marion Abbott; and three sisters, Grace Francis Burnside, Mary Evelyn Reed and Edith Gover Kidd.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Abbott (David) Hardin; daughters-in-law Violet (Tina) Dalton Abbott and Geneva Maddox Abbott; six grandchildren, Karen Lynne Abbott (Tim) Gill, Kimberly Anne Hardin (Tim) Hawkins, David Jeremy Hardin, Troy Manuel Abbott, Rheanna Kay Abbott (Randall) Emmons and Alana Breeze Abbott; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ray Gill, Chelsea Lynn Gill, Christina Lynn Abbott, Dakota Chase Lewis (Bethany) Abbott, Tanner Manuel Abbott, Taryn Kay Abbott, Kaden Wyatt and Carson Everett Emmons, and Konnor Davis Hardin. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothia Abbott Record and Hazel Abbott Brant; sisters-in-law, Margaret Abbott and Betty Lane; brother-in-law, Wilbert Mitchell (Eula) Lane; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters and great-granddaughters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home in Danville, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests donations to Heritage Hospice and St. Jude's Childrens Hospital
