Elizabeth Schlachter Howard, 92, of Junction City, died Friday, September 23, 2016. Born August 24, 1924 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of Joseph Lee and Dora Smith Schlachter. She worked in the cutting department at Genesco for 17 years. As a member of the Junction City First Baptist Church, she was active in her church and was always helping the older people. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Newton Howard and two sisters, Mary Rousey and Margaret Hogue.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy (Roy) Phillips of Danville, a step-daughter, Beth (Dennis) Patria of North Carolina, a sister, Helen Horne of Danville, two grandchildren, Cheryl (LeeRoy) Hardin and Jeff (Melanie) Phillips, four step-grandchildren, David Armstrong, Ann Smith, Michael Patria and Matthew Patria, five great-grandchildren, Jeremy Hardin, Tanner Hardin, Joshua Phillips, Haley Phillips and Cameron Winchester, and nine step-great-grandchildren.

The service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. Rev. Dale Denton will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Hardin, Tanner Hardin, Joshua Phillips, Barry Horne, Michael Horne and Hunter Horne. Interment will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial donations to the Junction City 1st Baptist Church Building Fund and Heritage Hospice.
