Cora Moore

July 5, 1942 — August 13, 2021

Cora Lou Moore, 79 years of age, came into the presence of the Lord on Friday, August 13, 2021, after succumbing to Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. Cora’s legacy was bringing her three children to the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and in turn her children did the same for her beloved grandchildren. Mom was gentle natured, kind-hearted, gracious, and generous. She loved the Lord and her family with all her heart and soul. In addition, Mom worked many years for IBM in Manassas, VA. She eventually wrote a Christian children’s book titled Lucilly Ireney Bazilly McNeely, in which she dedicated to her beloved grandmother. The book also features all her grandchildren. Cora was a talented artist in that she loved to watercolor paint nature, old and new barns, and farmhouses with chickens.

Cora married James M. Moore, whom she met at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Huntington, WVA, where they both worked and fell in love. All three of their children were born in Baltimore, MD before they moved to Manassas, VA where they continued to live their lives while raising their three children James Moore, Kathryn (Moore) Wood, and Patrick Moore. Cora’s husband preceded her in death on February 24, 1999. Cora’s beloved mom, Lucille Riddle, and her sweet brother, Johnny Riddle, both preceded Mom in death.

Cora is survived by her three children, their spouses, and grandchildren (James and Karen Moore with Courtney Laganke and Meagan Moore; Sam and Kathy Wood with Sara Sowers, Sammy Wood, and Walker Wood; and Patrick and Lisa Moore with Emily Moore and Christopher Moore); her two brothers and their spouses; and a number of other loving relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank the caretakers and staff at The Willows in Harrodsburg and others who cared for our beloved mom during her last days. We would also like to thank those who have extended emotional support for Cora and her family.

There will be a private graveside service at Danville Memorial Gardens.
