Chester Nicholas, 89, died on March 1, 2022 in Danville. He was born
on May 15, 1932, in Tateville, Kentucky, to the late Ansel Edgar and
Flossie Ellen Colyer Nicholas. Chester started Nicholas Service Center
in 1958 which became a staple of Hustonville Road for over 60 years.
He also built racecars under the name R & N Racing. Chester was a
member of Calvary Baptist Church. Chester was predeceased by his
wife, Gelea Bradley Nicholas, siblings; Loraine (Roland) Lewis, James
Cecil (Anne) Nicholas, Virginia (Lloyd) Shelton, Delia Margaret
Nicholas, Georgia (Clyde) Stout, and Ruby (Glen) Bolin, and son-in-
law, Clyde Rogers Sr.
Chester is survived by his daughter, Virginia “Lou” Rogers, grandson,
Clyde E. (Lisa) Rogers Jr., granddaughter, Missy (Brian) Angolia, and
two great-grandchildren; Chessie Elizabeth Rogers and Madeline Jean
Angolia.
There will be a graveside service at 2 pm on Friday, March 4, 2022, at
Danville Memorial Gardens. Curt Herrington and Brent Rowe will
officiate. Memorial donations are suggested to Willow Creek Sanctuary.
