Barbara Jean Baker, age 65, of Hillcrest Drive, died Sunday, September 6, 2009, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Sunday, February 27, 1944, in Boyle Co., she was a daughter of the late Walter Mack and Sara Margaret Robinson Shearer. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church. She was very artistic and enjoyed reading, making crafts and bead necklaces, collecting Boyd's Bears, and listening to gospel music, particularly the Gaither's. Barbara was a retired employee of American Greeting. She was the valedictorian of her 1962 Class at Danville High School.
Survivors include her husband, whom she wed on November 15, 1966, James "Jim" Thomas Baker II of Danville; son, James "Jimmy" Thomas Baker III of Danville; daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Anne Wood, Barbara "Barbie" Jeanne (Christopher) Cooley, and Stephanie Michelle (Michael) Ridge, all of Danville; mother-in-law, Hazel Gertrude Baker of Danville; brothers, Tony Ray (Purnie) Shearer of Lincoln Co. and Walter Mack (Sue) Shearer, Jr. of Mackville; sister, Sara "Penny" Margaret (David) McCarty of Campbellsville; 9 grandchildren, Abby, Ashaley, T.J., Sam, Kristofer, Savannah, Ty, Sara, and Jasmine; and uncles, Billy and Joe Robinson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in the Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Roger, Kenny, and Ed Robinson, Darryl, Jason, and Jacob Bryant, Scott Terry, and John Boling.
