Rev. Arlis Luttrell, age 87, of Logan Avenue, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 to be with his Lord and Savior whom he served over 50 years. Born Tuesday, February 7, 1922 in Casey County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Bess Childress Luttrell. Arlis led many souls to Christ as an Evangelist, Ordained Minister and Ordained Bishop of the Church of God based in Cleveland, TN. He was pastor for the Lancaster and Harrodsburg Churches of God for more than 30 years. He also drove a school bus for the Boyle County Schools for 35 years. Arlis served in the Army Artillery Division during WWII where he was the recipient of a Purple Heart in the line of duty for his country. He was a member of the Clays Mill Road Church of God in Lexington and the Disabled American Veterans.
Arlis leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Kathy Fletcher Luttrell of Danville; four daughters, Rose (Ronald) Stephens of Stanford, Lucinda Tanner of Bowling Green; Theresa (Rev. Gary) Ballinger of Lexington, and Dixie Luttrell of Danville; sister, Marcille Wilkerson and Versie (Thurman) Terry, both of Dunnville, Odean (Marvin) Clements of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Sherill (Brenda) Luttrell of Estero, FL; 10 Grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a beloved dog, Katy.
Rev. Luttrell was preceded in death by Beulah Wilkerson Luttrell, his first wife and partner in the ministry and mother of his four lovely daughters; sisters, Lorene Monday and Lois Emerson; and brother, Don Luttrell.
An Appreciation of Life Service will be 11AM Saturday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. Gary Ballinger and Chris Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-9PM Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mark Lee, Scott Ballinger, Ronnie Stephens, Cameron Winchester, Jacob Bruns, Devin Ballinger, Jeff Phillips, Jeff Bruns, and Greg Wolford.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans or Clays Mill Road Church of God.
