AJ Sears Sr.

A.J. Sears Sr., age 79, Salvisa, husband of Verbena Lee Sears, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Ephraim McDowell Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg. Born August 10, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late B.F. and Mary (Hahn) Sears. He was a rural mail carrier for the US Civil Service and a self-employed farmer.

Survivors other than his wife include: one daughter Belinda Thompson of Lexington; one son A.J. (Geri Dawn) Sears Jr. of Salvisa; seven grandchildren Andrew Sears, Eleanor Sears, Abigail Sears, and Emily Sebree all of Salvisa and Justin Dunagan, Jason Dunagan, and Jennifer Dunagan all of Lexington; two great grandchildren Adylee Ann Dunagan and Eden Kayne Dunagan both of Lexington. A.J. was preceded in death by five brothers Hollis, Edward, Harrison, Alvis and Woodrow Sears and by three sisters Kathleen Sears, Faye Price and Pauline Strubie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. John David Lane. Burial will be in the Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.

Pallbearers are: A.J. Sears, Jr., Andrew Sears, Jason Dunagan, Justin Dunagan and Francis Sears.
